Term One…And we’re off!

Welcome back to Freedom Beats, the newsletter for the Freedom Music Studios, the premier studio for Singing Lessons in Melbourne.

In this edition, we invite you to join our Facebook group to share your experiences with the Freedom Family, links below.

Can you believe we are already halfway through Term One? There’s been excellent progress made by students with their level of commitment to practice really showing through the work they are bringing to class.

I wrote a blog nearly this time last year on the benefits of the practice:

We have even more new students to welcome, some from the same family and friendship circles. We have wonderful new teachers to add to our expanding offering for beginners to advanced keyboard, piano, guitar, bass and drums lessons now running.

Please feel free to refer your family and friends to our FREE Trial class to see if they too would like to join the Freedom Music Family.

We invited all students to register for the upcoming March Sunday Session, more details below. We would love to see students achieve their music goals and shake off some of those performance nerves, that all performers get.

Meet Hezi Suramarta our Keyboard, Piano, Guitar, Bass and Drums Teacher

Hezi has joined the teaching team at Freedom and is now available for keyboard, piano, guitar, bass and drums from beginner to advance.

I am a passionate musician and music teacher, who’s currently teaching at 4 primary schools and giving private lessons to students of all age in Melbourne. I am proficient in teaching keyboard, piano, guitar, bass and drums. I have been actively involved both in the music industry and music teaching for more than 15 years.

I hold a strong belief that music has the power to change lives, to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. I seek to equip students with the performance, composition and theoretical skills that will see them excel in any path they take in music. I am a highly outcome-driven and motivated with solid experience. As a member of a contemporary jazz band, I have been performing in many Jazz Festivals in Victoria, weddings and corporate events.

Freedom Music Studios offering Beginner Piano Classes.

We welcome back Lo Vanguardia to the Freedom Music Family as a beginner teacher of Piano at Freedom! Lo was a much loved former student undertaking singing lessons, that has come on board to teach our beginners classes and she has started full steam ahead!

A bit about Lo
Lo was born and raised in Melbourne and started singing since she could talk, having a very loud voice and the drive to belt her heart out. She discovered her passion for the performing arts after watching High School Musical and followed it through at the age of 13 in her first ensemble role in the musical Little Shop of Horrors.

In high school, Lo performed in musicals, took lessons at Freedom, as well as lessons in dance, piano, and guitar, and completed Music Performance and Drama in VCE.

Lo’s performance credits include Peter Pan (as Slightly), Paint Your Wagon (as Ensemble), Bugsy Malone (as Lena Marelli), Grease (Johnny Casino) and. Beauty and the Beast (Silly Girl 1), Heathers the Musical (Hipster Dork) and Rock of Ages (Regina).

Lo has graduated with a Bachelor of Entertainment Management at the Australian Institute of Music and is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts with a Master of Teaching at Deakin University.

Please contact us directly to book in Beginner Piano Classes available Monday to Friday at various times.

We can help with song selection, singing lessons, harmonising and getting the maximum performance from the skills and abilities you have; you don’t have to be a perfect singer, you just need preparation and practice.  We advise the best time frame to prepare in two months in advance with a weekly lesson to perfect the performance.

SINGER SPOTLIGHT – JORDAN SHOME

singing lessons

I have been part of the Freedom Family in singing lessons for about 3 years.
My top 3 singing achievements in 2019?
1. Finally hitting falsetto notes well.
2. Learning not to oversing.
3. Winning Sing N Bling and performing a character piece as the Genie in Aladdin for Freedom Music Studios’ October Cabaret.
Favourite singer? Bruno Mars
What is your favourite song? Hard as it changes all the time. At the moment it’s probably the new Valentine song with Charlie Wilson and Bruno Mars
What do you hope to achieve in 2020?
Experiment more with songs and performances from musical theatre. I would also really love to perform a song with a couple of back up dancers and learn how to move, yet control pitch and focus on choreography and being in time with others simultaneously.

After a hotly contested competition including Vanessa Amorosi and Casey Donovan, SBS’ Eurovision – Australia Decides crowned Montaigne as the WINNER to represent Australia in the Netherlands in May at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest.

The singer outdid nine other contenders for the right to represent Australia with her original song, “Don’t Break Me”. All 10 contestants performed before a live studio audience on the Gold Coast, with the contest broadcast to the rest of the country and voting from Australians everywhere. The public vote accounts for 50% of the decision and the remaining percentage from a panel of industry professionals.

Following the announcement of her win, Montaigne said she was “ecstatic, euphoric [and] energetic.”
“It’s really exciting for me. I was quite nervous because I was nervous about being nervous, because that might affect my signing while I do something different,” she said. “I don’t know if I sung the song perfectly, but I think I did a pretty good job.”

Montaigne has been performing since 2012, with notable achievements: winning Triple J’s Unearthed High, FBi Radio’s Next Big Thing Award and an ARIA award for Breakthrough Artist.

Looking forward to her performance at this years’ Eurovision!
